"Behold, he whose soul is not upright in him shall fall, but the righteous shall live by his faith." (Habakkuk 2:4 RSV) were the words that lit a fire in the heart of Martin Luther, "The righteous shall live by faith." Not by circumstances, observations, or reasoning but by faith in what God has said will happen.
According to Spurgeon, God's key message throughout the Bible is, "Behold, he whose soul is not upright in him shall fail, but the righteous shall live by his faith" (2:4).
